The Independence Celebration Committee and the City of Havre de Grace are making every effort to reschedule the July 5th fireworks show. As soon as this is accomplished, the information will be posted on Facebook, the website, and the local newspapers.
Several efforts were made to change the location for Sunday, July 5, but none were approved for a variety of reasons. It takes time to have permits approved, etc.
As we’ve stated earlier, (on our HOME page), there is absolutely no one more disappointed than the committee members. We work diligently all year to make this event as special as we can. It was disheartening for each of us. (Below is the post from the home page on Sunday, July 5)
On July 5, 2015 at approximately 3:30 pm the Havre de Grace Police Department and the City of Havre de Grace were notified by the Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Officethat the annual fireworks display to take place in Tydings Park has been cancelled.
Due to the recent rain events that have taken place over the last couple of weeks, the location where the fireworks are launched from are so saturated and flooded that it is unsafe to launch any fireworks. An effort was made to find a suitable secondary location, but no other location was immediately found that could satisfy the safety requirements.
Our Committee is even more disappointed than you are. We are so very sorry for any inconvenience. Some things we have no control over. Every possible alternative was considered. Thank you so much for supporting out event and we do hope you’ve enjoyed the carnival, parade and concert.

Please stay tuned for a new location to be scheduled and approved over the next few weeks.
We appreciate everyone’s patience. Even more, we appreciate the community support of this event and your enthusiastic participation. We’ll update as soon as we have a confirmed date and location for the fireworks.
We do hope you enjoyed the carnival, Parade and Concert! Thank you!
