Who: A free outdoor concert featuring The Amish Outlaws

There is no “typical” Amish Outlaws show, but the average crowd can expect to see men in full Amish garb releasing all of their pent up energy with an infectious joy. With a set that is always evolving as the Brothers discover more and more music and culture, The Amish Outlaws constantly surprise the audience and keep them guessing as to what they could possibly play next, from Johnny Cash to Jay Z, Lady Gaga to Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, Bon Jovi to Elvis Presley, The Foo Fighters to Dropkick Murphys, to theme songs from the TV shows they have come to know. Throughout, The Outlaws spin yarns about the Brothers’ upbringing and adventures since Rumpsringa. Amish Outlaw gigs are less performances than they are initiations into the life of an Amish Outlaw and parties celebrating the Brothers’ newfound freedom.

It takes a village…

It takes lots of dedicated volunteers, the merchant community, parade participants, vendors, city employees, police, emergency services,  the folks who put on the great fireworks display, and more to create our Havre de Grace Independence Celebration.

With a parade, the new downtown block party, a free concert followed by fireworks… well, it takes all of us – including each and every one of you who show up to enjoy the festivities!

But it also takes dollars. And for that we thank the previous committee’s transfer of funds, the City of Havre de Grace, many sponsors and every single individual donation. Each and every one of you have a part in making this celebration possible.

Please check our Sponsorship page every now and then. Don’t forget to visit the sponsors and thank them for their support.

Noble Mentzer Named 2017 Grand Marshal

A Perfect Choice for 2017 Hometown Hero

A Grand Marshal is chosen for his/her exceptional leadership qualities, community involvement, and heroic character. Those reasons (and many more!) are why we asked Mr. Noble Mentzer to lead our parade, and we are very honored that he humbly accepted our invitation to be the Grand Marshal of the 2017 Hometown Heroes Independence Day Parade!

Mr. Mentzer has been a resident of HdG since he was just 3 months old. A 1946 HdG high school graduate, he donated his time to the community for many years including organizations such as Little League, Susquehanna Hose Co, Masonic Lodge, American Legion, and the Decoy Museum. Noble not only served our community, he also served our great country by joining the Navy and fighting in the Korean War.

Mr. Mentzer was married to his late wife, Dorothy, for 60 years; he has 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

We could not be happier Noble Mentzer will be leading the parade as Grand Marshal for he is truly the epitome of a Hometown Hero!
